  1. I see the additional dried fruit, and even some fresh pineapple in there from last week. And yes, much of the dried fruit out there has sugar. The health food stores have a sugar free alternative, and even dried apricots without sulphur dioxide. Dierbergs Whole Life section has several alternatives as well. Your other question regarding the pudding (sans the teddy grahams!) is a matter of control. If you occasionally use it as a treat, you're getting a calcium rich dessert, but again, frequency is key.

A few questions. How often do you eat the school lunch vs. packing your own? (Looks like dinner is often the next day's lunch maybe?)

Do you buy fresh produce each week, and does it get eaten up? Do you have family favorites of veggies and fruits? (Are the creamed cauliflower and green beans from last week fresh, frozen, or carryout?)

Is salad ever a main course for you?

And one more for this week-How much time do you have to prepare, eat, and clean up before you have to move on with your evening?

PS. Great job on the 6 miler and other walks last week and the boot camp workouts!

  2. I rarely eat school lunch. Its just too spendy, and full of fat and salt a lot of the time. Yes, dinner is most often the next day's lunch, if there are leftovers. School lunch or Panda Soup are the usual no leftover alternatives.

I buy groceries on Sunday, and try to stock up on most needs for the whole week at once. And it does get eaten up. There are family favorites, and its a variety of fresh, frozen, and canned. The creamy cauliflower was fresh, broccoli and mixes are often frozen, but our stir fry was fresh, and green beans are often canned.

Salad is a rare main course for me. Lettuce is not my thing at all, so I pretty much force it on myself to fill me up and add a few nutrients.

Time to prepare supper in the evenings is a bit of a crap shoot, dependent on everyone's schedule for after work and for the evening. I rely on my crock pot and fast fixes to help out on the nights I know I'll be late at work. Rob helps some...but rarely with clean up and now its basketball season for him, which doesn't end until March or so.

THANKS so much for taking time to look at this!!

  3. So the week looks pretty good, with additional sugar hits toward the latter part. Is that because they presented themselves more, or the result of mounting fatigue? (Sometimes we crave sugar for the energy burst.)

The meals look solid, breakfast and lunch, without knowing portions look healthy.

I'll read your next post and comment there. Congrats on your choices this week. Don't beat yourself up for a few treats. Focus on the success and perseverance thus far!
